Giveaway Official Rules

No purchase necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Void where prohibited.

1. Sponsor

The 100,000 Whys for Kids Book Giveaway (the "Giveaway") is run by Theo Tolland, author of 100,000 Whys for Kids (the "Sponsor", "we", "us"). Theo Tolland is a pen name. Contact: theotolland.1@gmail.com.

2. Who can enter

The Giveaway is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 or older (19 or older in Alabama and Nebraska, 21 or older in Mississippi) when they enter. Kids are welcome to help come up with a question, but a grown-up must enter from their own account. The Sponsor and the members of the Sponsor's immediate family and household can't enter. Your Instagram or TikTok account must follow that platform's own rules.

3. Giveaway period

The Giveaway starts when the first official giveaway post is published on the Sponsor's Instagram or TikTok account, on or after November 5, 2026, and ends on November 29, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time (the "Giveaway Period"). The Sponsor's clock is the official timekeeper.

4. How to enter

During the Giveaway Period:

1. follow the Instagram or TikTok account that published an official giveaway post (the "Official Account");
2. like that official giveaway post; and
3. leave a comment on that post, for example your kid's funniest "why?" question, or your kid's score in our quiz video.

Official giveaway posts are the posts on the Official Accounts that announce this Giveaway and point to these rules. You don't need to tag anyone or share anything.

One entry per person, no matter how many comments you leave or how many official posts, platforms or accounts you use. Entries from Instagram and TikTok go into the same drawing. Entries made with bots, scripts, fake or borrowed accounts, or any automated means are void. Comments must be your own and suitable for a family audience; we may disqualify any entry that isn't.

5. Drawing and odds

On or about December 1, 2026, the Sponsor will draw 5 potential winners at random from all eligible entries received during the Giveaway Period, using a random number generator. Before confirming a winner, the Sponsor checks that the entrant followed the Official Account, liked the official post and commented on it. The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

6. Prizes

There are 5 prizes. Each prize is one paperback copy of 100,000 Whys for Kids by Theo Tolland. Approximate retail value: $19.90 each (the Amazon.com paperback price on November 3, 2026); total approximate retail value of all prizes: $99.50. The prize is shipped free of charge to a street address in the 50 United States or D.C., usually within 30 days after the winner sends it to us. No cash, substitutions or transfers, except that the Sponsor may send a prize of equal or greater value if the paperback isn't available. Limit one prize per person and per household.

7. How winners are told and claim their prize

Potential winners will be contacted by a reply to their comment or a direct message from the Official Account within 3 days after the drawing. To claim the prize, a potential winner must email theotolland.1@gmail.com within 72 hours of that message, with their first and last name, a US shipping address and their Instagram or TikTok username. If a potential winner doesn't reply in time, isn't eligible or hasn't followed these rules, that prize is forfeited and another potential winner may be drawn.

8. Free Myth-Buster Cards for everyone

Separately from the drawing, any grown-up in the US can get the free printable Myth-Buster Cards at 100000whyskids.com by signing up with a first name and an email address (see our Privacy Policy). You don't need to enter the Giveaway to get them, and getting them doesn't enter you in the Giveaway.

9. Instagram and TikTok

This Giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram, Meta Platforms, Inc. or TikTok. By entering, each entrant gives a complete release of Instagram, Meta Platforms, Inc. and TikTok from any liability connected with the Giveaway. Questions about the Giveaway go to the Sponsor, not to Instagram or TikTok.

10. General conditions

By entering, you agree to these rules and to the Sponsor's decisions, which are final. The Sponsor may disqualify anyone who tampers with the entry process or breaks these rules, and may cancel, change or suspend the Giveaway if fraud, a technical problem or anything else beyond its control affects it; in that case the winners may be drawn from the eligible entries received before the problem. The Sponsor isn't responsible for entries that are lost, late or incomplete, for comments a platform removes, or for prizes lost or damaged by the carrier after shipping. Any taxes on a prize are the winner's responsibility. To the extent the law allows, by entering you release the Sponsor from claims connected with the Giveaway or a prize.

11. Privacy

We use the information you give us for the Giveaway only to run it and to send the prizes. A winner's name and shipping address are used only to ship the book and aren't added to any mailing list. More in our Privacy Policy.
